What if it rains?

Earth Day Omaha will go on rain or shine!

In the chance of lightning, please seek a safe shelter such as Elmwood Park’s pavilion, the UNO parking garage, or your vehicle. When lightning is present, do not touch any metal, including the framework of a car. If you are unable to reach a sheltered area, other suggested locations are a dry ditch or a thick grove of small trees surrounded by smaller trees. Unsafe areas are places with tall trees, light poles, open fields, any point higher than the areas surrounding it, and puddles of water. If a tornado warning is issued the event will be canceled.

Is Earth Day family-friendly?

All ages are welcome! There will be activities geared towards the younger set, including a ‘trashion’ creation station, baby farm animals, games, and green story telling, so be sure to visit Undeniably Dairy’s Children’s Tent (located conveniently next to the playground). There will also be fun activities for older children. Be sure to check out the tree climbing activity!

Pet friendly?

Well-behaved, non-aggressive dogs on a leash are welcome! Be aware that this is a crowded, stimulating and noisy event that may be too stressful for some pets. Your dog will need to act appropriately around other animals (farm animals and rabbits), small children, and other dogs. Please remember to keep the park clean and pick up any messes.

What can I bring?

Please come prepared for the weather (whether that means packing sunblock, a parka, or a raincoat) and wear comfortable shoes. You are welcome to bring a blanket or lawn chairs if you plan to set up in front of the main stage, a yoga mat for 11am yoga, strollers, and fun items like hula hoops and hacky sacks. You are also welcome to bring your own coolers with food and non-alcoholic beverages to this event.  Don’t forget your wallet! There will be items for sale and an ATM on site.

Will there be food and drink for purchase?

There will be a wide variety of delicious food, snacks and drinks for sale from local food vendors, as well as a beer garden for the 21+ crowd.

What about event security?

There will be police presence at the event to help ensure a safe and secure environment.

Are there COVID-19 precautions?

Earth Day Omaha will be following guidelines from the CDC and Douglas County Health Department regarding COVID-19 precautions for large, outdoor gatherings. We advise attendees to practice social distancing and mask when in close quarters.
